Summary: "Officer Tegoshi needs to speak to you, Commander."
Notes: forgetyourzexion for Christmas, lol. um I think my header is longer than the actual fic?
"Operative Tegoshi wants to see you in his office, Commander," Kelly says, when Yamashita has stepped off the elevator to go back to his bridge terminal. "When you have a moment, that is, sir."
Yamashita blinks, still out of sorts from re-settling into his body and his new quarters, and then nods, slowly. "I'll just... go over there now, then," he says, shuffling back toward the elevator.
He knocks on the door when he arrives out of good manners, and then the door slides open. Tegoshi is at his desk, bent over his keyboard and humming something, but he looks up when Yamashita steps inside and then scrapes his chair back. "Commander," he says, "hello."
"Um, hi," Yamashita says, "Kelly said you needed to see me, is something wrong?"
"No, no," Tegoshi answers, and circles the desk slowly. His tall boots click, click, click on the floor, and Yamashita glances back up the long line of his crossed legs and the curve of his chest in his white jacket to settle on his face by the time he settles sideways against the desk. Tegoshi's eyes are knowing under his dyed blond hair, and Yamashita shifts from one foot to the other, clearing his throat.
"I just wanted to be perfectly clear about things," Tegoshi says, after a moment of silence. "Whatever our--idealogical differences--" he pauses and crosses his arms over his chest to make it clear that he knows there are some--"you're the commander here, so whatever you decide, I'm behind you. Sir."
The tone of the word sounds like something else, something dark that coils in Yamashita's stomach. Yamashita takes a long shuddering breath, and forces a smile. "Thank you," he says, finally, "that's good to hear. We're all hear for the same thing, in the end, right? Destroying Reapers and saving the universe."
Tegoshi breaks into a smile then, and nods. "Yes, sir," he says.
